DESCRIPTION:Pianist Ivan Gusev was born in Karaganda\, Kazakhstan. At age four\, he moved with his family to greater Moscow\, where he began his piano studies at the Korolev School of the Arts at age six. He twice won the school’s competition\, then the Moscow regional competition\, and soon won an award in a national competition.\nBetween 2008 and 2015\, he earned bachelor’s\, master’s\, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees with highest honors. He won the Third Gershwin International Music Competition (NYC)\, the Mauro Monopoli Competition Prize (Barletta\, Apulia)\, the Benditsky Russian Piano Competition (Saratov)\, the IKIF’s Dorothy MacKenzie Artist Recognition Scholarship Award (NYC)\, the Third International Stanislav Neuhaus Piano Competition (Russia)\, and the 20th-century composition performance prize of the New York Festival and Piano Competition. He also earned a Masters in piano performance at Mannes School of Music in New York City.\n\n\n\nRefreshments will be served following the performance. DESCRIPTION:Join us to welcome Creeque Alley On September 18th when music comes back to the Ashby Free Public Library! \n“Creeque Alley” is the name of a New England-based acoustic folk-rock duo\, comprised of musicians Sean Fullerton and Dan Kirouac\, who perform tributes to the music of the 1960s. They play classic songs from artists like Bob Dylan\, Woody Guthrie\, and The Mamas and the Papas\, using guitars\, harmonicas\, and vocal harmonies to recreate the sounds of the era’s folk revival and flower power movement. The duo also shares educational information and humor about the songs and their artists.

SUMMARY:Concert on Ashby's Whitney Organ
DESCRIPTION:Free concert on the First Parish Church’s newly restored Whitney Pipe Organ. The Jonas P. Whitney family building pipe organs in Ashby in 1841 and sold them to churches throughout the region. The First Parish organ was installed in 1850. It is safe to say that it is the only remaining Whitney pipe organ still in use. This is a rare opportunity for you to hear this historic organ played by Wesley Harrison Hall\, an accomplished organist with a passion for translating the music of the past into the context of today’s audience.
