By joining the Ashby Historical Society you help the ongoing effort to preserve Ashby’s history. The Society has been at work preserving the legacy of those who have built our town for over 100 years. Do your part to keep the effort going.

Your membership will allow you to receive invitations to special events, participate in the annual meeting, join others preserving our heritage and have fun participating in the community. If you would like to help we need editors for our newsletter, display designer and set up, handyman to assist with displays and minor repairs, docent for tours and anything else we haven’t thought of.

Preserve the Amos Wheeler Orderly Book

In May 1775, following the battles at Lexington and Concord, the Ashby Militia went to Cambridge assist in surrounding Boston. Amos Wheeler was a sergeant in the Ashby Militia. He kept the day to day record of the Militia in and orderly book from May 7, 1775 until he was mortally wounded at the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775. The book is an important original document from the early history of Ashby and America.

We are seeking to have the book repaired and digitized by Northeast Document Conservation Center. This will preserve the book for future generations and, through digital images, make it easily available to all. The cost for this is $3,975. Your donation will help in this important endeavor. Donate Now with Credit Card below or mail to: Ashby Historical Society, PO Box 90, Ashby, MA 01431

In the weeks and months ahead we will be applying for grants and corporate donations to help fund the preservation and digitization. The money you donate will provide a match any grants we may receive.

All Your Money Goes to Preservation and Programs

We operate with an all volunteer staff so 100% of your donation goes to preservation or programs. Donations over the membership rate include membership. Donations of objects related to Ashby history are encouraged. The Society is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible.
